The Vastfontein Community is an agriculture small holding community. Many of the owners build single room facilities which they rent out to poor people, therefore, most of our learners are either the children of farm/ domestic workers or poor people living off social grants. More than 50% of our learners only have 1 parent or live with a relative with no parental support. Nearly every term we find a family with school going children who are not attending school due to lack of transport or funds to send them to school.
